I really have to get better at taking pictures of our events, but let’s be real: who wants to be the person sticking an iPhone in people’s faces when the weather and conversation are perfect, and there is a project waiting to be worked on?

That is to say, our first-ever PicKnit at Volunteer Park was a success. We found some excellent shade, shared stories and cherries from the farmers market, and many stitch crafts were represented: knitting, crochet, embroidery, and spinning. Lucy, my Havanese, also joined us with her favorite craft: stealing food and attention from everyone (especially if your name is Sara).

Your small wins are celebrated by new and familiar folks, and it’s a chance to hear interesting stories and learn useful things (like your Birth Chart Palette).

Hard topics inevitably come up in groups like this, but the edges feel a little softer when you’re building community and making something new.
